As I reflect on the dynamics of racism in America, I am reminded of an interview that I watched on CBS’s “This Morning” of the author, Jodi Picoult. In her comments she noted that, “racism is not just about prejudice, it is also about power. And although racism is big, messy, systemic and institutional, it is both perpetuated and dismantled in individual acts.”So how do we address this pervasive issue? We start with individual acts!As Dr. Martin L. King Jr. stated, “If I can not do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”To this end, let us commit to doing Small Great Things to end racism. Please pick up the book, “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult.— Gary T.
